Below: 2009 Rescue Rodeo, Las Vegas, NV. The dog below was not very cooperative (he was not neutered), but he seemed to enjoy the attention. I was able to hand strip this little terrier mix, and I hope he was able to find a home! Look at that pile of hair next to the dog. It's enough to make another dog with! Above, me with a PREGNANT rescue dog, waiting to start grooming process. (Las Vegas 2011) Here she is, above, Waiting to be judged. (Las Vegas 2011) |
Below: 2010 Rescue Rodeo, Las Vegas, NV. The dog below was a sweet little double-coated mixed breed. She smelled something awful, and had mats in her rear feathering, and chunks of undercoat coming out all over. In the end, she was a shiny, pretty girl, and was adopted the very next day! I was so happy! What is the Rescue Rodeo? Just the best grooming competition on the planet! Each groomer pays a fee to groom a dog that he or she has never seen before. We don't even know the breed beforehand. Many of these dogs are unsocialized, and unspayed/unneutered, making them a little more tricky to groom. Kind of like bucking broncos! This is a popular competition because when we groom the dog, they become immediately more adoptable. Every home should have a dog, and every dog should have a home!
